Madison Feeding Cayman

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

My little sister, soon to be 5 years old in January, is really growing up.

On a day last week, when I was at my parents' house, Cayman was crying and signing to "eat". Madison watched carefully as I unloaded Cayman's food, spoon, and bib from the diaper bag.

"Can I feed Cayman, Krissy? Pleeeease! I know how to do it." Madison said to me with her hands folded out in front of her as she gave me her best begging performance.

I was so touched by Madison's excitement. "Yes you can." I said with a smile on my face. Madison burst out in a celebration of cheers as she anxiously took her seat before Cayman exclaiming to her, "I get to feed you!"

I felt so delighted watching the two of them together like this. It feels like it was not too long ago Madison was a baby herself and now she's feeding my baby. Two very precious girls to me.

I am grateful that almost 5 years ago when Madison was born into this world needing a family to raise her, mine was called on!

How sweet! They are both growing up so quickly. I love the picture of Cayman looking up at Madison as she's feeding her. In a few years you'll have another babysitter. She can teach Cayman to leave her socks on when she's around Grandpa! :)

Awe, how sweet! Madison looks very proud to be helping to take care of Cayman. Just think, you have a babysitter in training.

Cayman's face in the first picture is like "really Madison? You don't look nearly old enough to be feeding me." and then she's looking at you like "mom? I know you trust Madison and all, but I still don't know about this..." hehe

Both Madison and Cayman are absurdly cute!

David,

About 7 years ago, my parents pursued their adoption licensure. They felt a strong compassion to give a child a home that needed one. When Madison was only 3 days old my parents received a call from the adoption agency and became apart of our family.

She is precious. What a joy to have her in your family. I had no idea her and my Jonathan were even close to the same age.

I just realized for my previous comment I signed in as Grandpa S. What was I thinking? I bet you were surprised when you read it!

Kristen,
I think there should be a Madison post. I have picked up on a few things following our blog, but a story is there, I am sure. I am sure the story is a great one.
Two couples at our church were recently blessed by very quick adoptions that, to be honest, kind of fell in their lap. God placed those babies with those families for a purpose. I am AMAZED at the self-lessness of birth mothers. I am amazed at their strength. I cannot imagine their grief. (A friend of mine got pregnant in highschool and gave her son up for adoption. He will be 17 this year. She knows that someda soon she will meet him again face to face-she gets updates on him frequently)
I know this is Cayman's blog and her story, but you have touched so many by ALL of your stories and photos.

Just a thought. And, like David, I would LOVE to know the story behind Madsion joining your family!
