Pediatrician Yesterday

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Cayman had her routine 4 month check up with the Pediatrician yesterday. She's weighing 12 lbs 12.1 oz. and is exactly 2 feet tall.

Isn't it funny referring to a baby as tall?? It's always spoken they're "long" not "tall". That was Daddy's deep thought for the day. I think you must be able to stand up to be referred to as tall.

Cayman checked out well. Her G-tube hole has closed up. Daddy calls the scar her 2nd belly button.

The Pediatrician told us to put a teaspoon of rice cereal in Cayman's bottle before bed and see if that would help her sleep longer in the night. Thinking of her sleeping through the night is fabulous!! I'm excited if she sleeps for 4 hours straight...I can't even fathom if it would be more than that!!

Rice Cereal here we come!!

There's so many brands. So you Mom's, I'm curious, what kind of rice cereal did you like?

With my first, I used Gerber because everyone swore it was easier to digest...with #2 and #3, I just used whatever the cheapest brand was and I really couldn't tell any difference at all.
Hope you (and Cayman) are able to get more lengthy sleep!

Keegan didn't like Gerber - he preferred the Parents Choice brand from Wal-mart. It's exciting to think about sleep as a new parent! Keegan likes to sleep in now - hopefully Cayman will start liking to sleep at night too! :)

Both my girls ate Gerber. I don't know why...probably b/c that's what WIC gave us.

georgiana ate earth's best because she had a hard time digesting gerber early on [but was fine with it later]. but she wanted FOOD! she ate the rice, oatmeal and multigrain. i thought by giving her i variety it would be less boring for her plus more rounded diet. i ended up adding some baby food fruit with oatmeal for flavor later.[ after all, i liked apples in MY oatmeal;)] just have to see what her tummy likes. i know for formula, the cheap stuff worked, but cereal it didn't. ?? it's always a mystery. haha. life and kids - they'll sure keep you on your toes!

Kristen,

We used Gerber I think, it's been almost 4 years since I've had to buy infant cereal! Way to grow, Cayman!

We used Gerber. She is really doing fabulous! It just doesn't seem real that at such a young age they can already be two feet! I like to think in inches. :)
Next time I'm in Toledo, I'll have to try to swing in and meet her face to face. But I'll definitely call first. No interruptions of naps! :)

I use, still, Gerber cereal with added DHA and ARA. I read somewhere that it helps promote brain growth or something so I figured a kid who is supposed to be delayed could use the extra boost. Don't know if it makes any difference at all, but that is my theory : )

Yeah, I have the address. Can't wait!

Ari ate Gerber ORGANIC rice cereal but someone told me they may have pulled that from the shelves for some reason. We tried Earth's Best but it was too thick to go through the bottle. The Gerber's worked. I like the Earth's Best because you can get it in single serve packets for take along ease as well as saving money by not wasting it when they are just starting to eat. Have fun! The bottle trick works if you can make sure she can suck it through so don't put too much of the cereal.

Gerber for all three of my kids. I think ours had the DHA/ARA as well. This was the only kind I was ever highly recommended by family and friends plus if you register on the gerber website they send you lots of coupons!!
