Cayman is out of surgery, but not with the best of report. She is alright, but there was some complications getting her body to accept the distal portion of the shunt. There is a lot of scar tissue in her belly so that doesn't work to replace the shunt there. The other and best option was to put it back into her heart. However, there appears to be blood clots or something in her veins surrounding her heart. So that option doesn't work. So right now the doctor put the shunt coming out externally at her neck. The fluid drains into a bag. Over the next couple days they will get more scans, x-rays, etc. to explore other options.

Poor sweet little girl. I'll be praying that they figure out the best possible location for everything. I'm glad to see she is in the safest, best place possible- in Mommy's arms. Extra prayers for your sweetie tonight!

Oh Kristen! I am so sorry to hear about another shunt revision. I have been thinking about you guys all week and wondering how things have been going.
I love that picture of you holding Cayman close. It so clearly shows the love between a mother and daughter.
I hope that they are able to find a solution to where to place the end of the shunt. How scary!
We are sending blessings your way.
I am so sorry that this is happening. I will pray for you all. I love the pictures of mommy and baby, so sweet. Please keep us updated. Love to you all.

Dearest Kris, Mike, and Cayman,
I have no idea what you are feeling, going through, or the anxieties! I am hurting for you. I am crying, but you are probably weeping, because it is your little girl. I can tell you God is in control, which He is, we don't understand, we question, we even ask "God where are you?!", but we NEED to cling to the knowledge that You/We have an ALL WISE, ALL SEEING GOD! He said He would never leave us nor forsake. Keep looking UP and clinging to the only One that can comfort and strengthen us in TRIALS of life. You have a PRECIOUS little girl that has captured our hearts. Cayman, Mike, and you are in our prayers.
We Love You.
Here's a Family Group Huge Hug from the Lepplas (((((O)))))
and some kisses for Cayman xxxxxxx
Kristen,
I've been eagerly waiting for an update all week, but I knew I'd have to wait as you had SUCH a busy week; and then when I read your blog, it was even busier with sweet little Cayman! Oh, your plate was so full this week and I was sad to read that you were in the hospital; especially since I was thinking we'd get apartment pictures with Cayman's first room. We're praying for your family here and wanted to let you know we'd been thinking about you ALL week. I am praying the doctors find the best place to put her the end of her shunt and for strength for you and Mike as you must all be exhausted from your crazy week!
I think about you guys ALL the time...
That is the most precious picture of you and cayman EVER... It almost brought me to tears!!!! You can feel the love:)
It will be ok...Just keep being positive your daughter is a trooper:)
“Fear can keep us up all night long, but faith makes one fine pillow.” You mommy are your sweet baby daughter's pillow of faith and comfort. You are doing all you can, even a stranger like me can tell that from your beautiful website and posts, which show that Cayman was born right into the arms of two of God's finest. My baby is in need too so I know about the rollercoaster ride. Hang in there! and know that likely thousands of people have your baby and yourselves in their daily prayers.
I haven't checked in a couple of days b/c we were out of town - but Cayman is never far from my thoughts and prayers! So sorry to hear - you are all in our thoughts and prayers!! Love the pic of you holding Cayman - sums up a Mother's Love!!!
