Only a few minutes old, shortly after her first bath. Right at birth she had a strong sucking reflex. And in this video she is doing some sucking actions on the tube that goes to her stomach to empty it. It's cute how it looks like she is chewing gum because of it.

Hello, I'm a lurker. I found your blog through someone else's a few weeks ago, and since it was so close to your c-section, I went ahead and kept checking back to see how things would go.
Congratulations! She's such a beautiful little girl. I love the picture of her with the smile - it is absolutely precious.
It might seem like she's unlucky, since there has been so many problems found since her birth, but I think she is so lucky to have been born to such wonderful parents who love her so much and have been so active in getting the help that she needs. I am amazed at your faith and I'm so proud of Cayman. Good luck with everything!

Hi Kristen! I don't know if you will remember me and my husband, we use to go to the Bible study that Dan led, we are friends with Josh Green. I use to be Erin Cole, I married Jason Beamon. Anyway, I was on our myspace page and saw a bulliten that Val left asking for prayers for your daughter. I was interested to see the blog and I started reading through, with tears in my eyes, not realizing that it is your blog! When I finally got to your preggo picture, I instantly started crying. . .
We had our son a year ago on the 22nd, and I had to have an emergency c-section, so I totally understand how long it takes to get dressed "fast". It is also still very fresh the miracle of birth and the emotions of finally having your precious child. You are so blessed.
Thank you so much for blogging, for being real and for continuing to be faithful. It is such an encouragement and so exciting to see someone go through something hard, but continue to rely on and praise the Father.
Father God,
I thank you so much for the faith that you have instilled in this family. I ask that you bless them for their faithfulness. Father, please be with their little daughter, Cayman. We know that you formed her and knew her before she was even a twinkle in her parents' eyes. We also believe that you have a plan and a purpose for her and we are believing that you are going to bring that to fulfillment someday. We ask that your will be done.

I've just found your blog and am enthralled reading it! This video reminds me so much of something my Dad told me years ago! I was born with Spina Bifida, hydrocephalus is also very common with this condition, but turned out I didn't have it! I digress ... when Cayman cried a little in this video, she stopped when her Dad gently stroked her head! This made me smile, it was a lovely moment! I also needed lots of surgery when I was born .. and in those days not alot was known of my condition! My parents had just been told I may not survive the surgery and when the doctors left, my dad came to where I was lying, 2 days old, and he held my hand! Just as I grasped it he said I turned to smile at him and at that moment he knew I would be ok! 42 years later I am just great! If you ever would like to chat about anything...growing up with a disability, coping ... anything just let me know! Sometimes a different perspective is interesting! Love to you all ... you will be in my thoughts and prayers!
